Enriched Air Nitrox
Less nitrogen, more bottom time - the most popular speciality worldwide.
Diving with enriched air
More bottom time, less nitrogen. The most popular specialty.
Nitrox - officially Enriched Air Nitrox - is air with a higher percentage of oxygen than normal. That sounds technical, but the benefit is very practical: you build up less nitrogen, increasing your no-decompression limits or shortening your surface intervals between dives.
During the nitrox specialty you learn everything about the composition of nitrox mixes, how to analyse and verify the oxygen concentration, what the maximum operating depths are and how to set your dive computer correctly. Theory via the SSI app, plus a clear briefing on site.
Dives are not compulsory for this speciality. You will mainly study theory and practise analysing your tank and planning your dive. This speciality can therefore be combined easily with other diving activities, such as guided dives, a refresher course and the Advanced Open Water Diver course. You can often even do a nitrox dive to experience its effects. And, not unimportantly, we can offer a great combination discount.
Tip: Take the Blue Oceans specialty! Free with every SSI course. You'll find the lessons in your online profile.
