From first dive in Crete to owner in Zeeland

René Magazine portrayed Wil Stutterheim, the new owner of Duikschool de Grevelingen. From his first dive on Crete and a liveaboard on the Great Barrier Reef to taking over his favourite diving school in Zeeland - a personal story about diving, entrepreneurship and coming home.

Earlier this year, René Magazine profiled Wil Stutterheim, the new owner of Dive School de Grevelingen. In an in-depth interview, he talks about his diving history. From his first dive in a cove on Crete to a liveaboard on the Great Barrier Reef; from a summer job at his own diving school to taking over that very same school twenty years later.

Wil grew up in Zeeland, studied Biomedical Sciences in Leiden and subsequently built a scale-up with eighty employees. But he never completely severed his ties with diving. In the interview, he talks about what brought him back to Zeeland and how the takeover of Dive School de Grevelingen came about – unexpectedly, but at just the right moment.

The interview also covers his views on diving in the Netherlands versus diving in tropical waters, the added value of learning to dive here, his plans for social impact through initiatives such as the SSI Classified Diving programme, and his involvement in the Tiny Sea Forest project in the Grevelingen.
