SSI Blue Oceans
The underwater world deserves our protection - be a diving ambassador for nature
We dive in a fragile ecosystem, every day
Lake Grevelingen and the Oosterschelde are not just dive sites. The Greveling is the largest saltwater lake in Europe; the Oosterschelde estuary is a Natura 2000-protected tidal area (the largest national park in the Netherlands) with exceptional marine biodiversity. We dive here throughout the season, watching what lives and thrives - and noticing what changes.
That comes with responsibility. As divers, we are guests in a world that runs entirely on its own terms. We take that seriously, and we pass it on to everyone who gets in the water with us.
As a certified SSI Blue Oceans Centre, we actively contribute to protecting that underwater world. Not as a marketing choice, but because we are part of it every single day.

Environmentally conscious diving
We teach our students to dive responsibly: no bottom contact, no touching marine life, and perfect buoyancy. Good trim protects the ecosystem and makes your diving much more enjoyable.
Beach and shoreline clean-ups
We organise clean-up events along the shores of the Grevelingenmeer and the Oosterschelde. Collecting litter together is simple, effective and fun. Follow us to be the first to hear about the next event.
Ocean education
Knowledge is the foundation of change. Through our courses, the Blue Oceans specialty and the ecology specialties, divers learn more about the ecosystem they dive in and how to protect it.
Sustainable choices
From using eco-friendly products to conscious choices in equipment and operations — Blue Oceans is a daily practice for us, not a box to tick.
Eco-conscious diving: 6 tips
Don't touch marine life
Take only photos, leave only bubbles. Enjoy the beauty, but leave everything where it belongs.
Choose reef-safe sunscreen
Many regular sunscreens contain chemicals harmful to ecosystems. Choose reef-safe alternatives.
Master your buoyancy
Perfect trim protects the seabed and marine life, saves air and makes your diving considerably more comfortable.
Eat sustainably
Choose plant-based or locally produced, sustainably caught food more often. Small choices, big impact.
Join a clean-up
Shoreline clean-ups are a fun and effective way to actively contribute to a cleaner environment.
Spread the word
Share knowledge through conversations, social media or workshops. You can inspire others to engage more consciously with nature.
Why this matters to us
The Grevelingenmeer is the largest saltwater lake in Europe. The Oosterschelde is a Natura 2000-protected tidal area. We dive in these waters every day — and see with our own eyes how fragile and how extraordinary they are.
Blue Oceans is not a certification we paste on our website. It is a way of working that we put into practice every day.
